Stars The CBBCA's INFO FAIR 2009
CBBCC
The Constance & Buckhams Bay Community Association (CBBCA) chose to hold an information exhibition at its AGM 2009 in the Community Centre in order to help increase meeting attendance. Called INFO FAIR 2009, it hosted some ten exhibits about activities in the village. Andy made sure there was lots of press about the INFO FAIR 2009 around the region, and 'Red Oak Forest Festival' promo'ed on the web. AGM attendance is said to have jumped over five fold, to about 80, over past years. Elections for the first time had more candidates than positions! The fair was judged highly successful, and it is expected that local businesses will be invited also to join in the INFO FAIR 2010, next year.

The 2nd floor of the community centre is a combined playhouse (with stage and all, home to the amateur Rural Root Theatre Company: BTW, the playhouse needs a name!) and large meeting room. It is the site of the CBBCA AGMs and the new INFO FAIR first held in 2009.

Andy is working up the foor plan for INFO FAIR's expected half-dozen or so tabletop exhibit displays (see how the exhibit plan was developed). The plan calls for the exhibit tables to line the back and side walls of the room, with the concurrent CBBCA AGM2009 in the centre front facing the stage.

Andy, being the skilled draftsman he is, draws up the formal layout. It shows that we will just enough space for all exhibitors. If there are more, then we will have to work a 'squeeze play' to get the all in. Maybe we could split the room in half with dividers so the meeting would own the front half and INFO FAIR 2010 the back?

Well, we got ten exhibitors! And 80 attendees! We didn't use the dividers (the 'Red Oak Forest Festival' folks have other layout suggestions for next year). Our exhibits started outside the entrance door, where the Annie Oaktree character from the 'Red Oak Forest Festival' display greeted people coming into the room (we forgot to take her pic :-(. However, here you see her twin sister Annie working the Red Oak Forest Festival display.

Our exhibits started between the entrance door and the Sandill Saloon with the City of Ottawa dock upgrade plans. Next at the back was the Red Oak Forest Festival display (seen in the previous pic, with Annie's twin in this pic). Along this wall is the Village Fitness Studio display next (voted no. 1 CBBCA project for the upcoming year!), followed by the RRTC's 'Bull in a China Shop' promo, the Bay Waves dance group and the Sandilands Seniors. Individual pics coming up!

As promised, here is close-up of the Village Fitness Studio display. This project was chosen as priority one for the CBBCA for 2009! Vera Jones is championing this joint project involving the YM/YWCA, the CBBCA, City Councillor Eli El-Chantiry and others. The studio's YM/YWCA donated fitness equipment will join the Studio in the CBBCA's CAN once it is made ready. Some inside renovations, a new outside paintjob and placement by the CBBCC so it can be wired into the facility.
